NPH JR. Showcase Circuit: All-Star Games

The top prospects put on a show during the highly anticipated all-star games at the Jr. showcase.

The best 38 players through the showcase were chosen and these young talents proved why they’re among the top in their class.

Game One

Many of the top ten prospects featured in game one. Big men Noah Ngamba and Vytus Nausedas led Team White. Top ranked player Elijah Fisher starred for Team Black, but it was Cameron Harris who finished with a game high 21 points.

Cameron Harris

Mississauga Monarch’s grade seven forward, Nausedas is a consistent finisher at the basket and he dominated the paint early on scoring six quick points inside.

Team White continued to control the game midway through the first half with more strong play from their forwards.

Vaughan Panthers forward Ngamba’s physicality down low and smooth jumper proved to be too much to handle for Team Black. Nauseous and Ngamba combined for 21 of their team’s 30 first half points.

Fisher, on the other hand, struggled to get going, missing his early looks. However, the top ranked grade seven player would not be contained for long. Fisher turned on his killer instinct and attacked the basket relentlessly. He finished with 19 points in the game with one made three.

One of the great stories in game one came from Cameron Harris. With his team down by double digits, Harris continued to push the ball and run the floor. His complete offensive game was on display hitting three shots from beyond the arc and getting to the basket for easy lay-ups.

Noah Ngamba

In the end, it was Team White winning confidently 66-51 over Team Black. Nauseous had a team high 19 points in the victory.

Ngamba received MVP honours for his stellar performance and how he controlled the game. Harris won the heart and hustle award.

Game 2

After a blowout in game one of the All-star game, game two would go right down to the final shot.

Grassroots Elite forward, Rory Stewart could not be stopped. The six foot six inch big man controlled the paint on both end of the floor making it difficult for Caleb Atewe to establish his presence.

Stewart’s all-around offensive game was on display with easy lay-ups after an offensive rebound, mid-range jumpers and even stepping back and hitting a triple. He finished with 13 points in the first half on very productive shooting.

One of the bright spots for Team Black was Pelham Panther’s forward Nolan Crawford. Crawford didn’t shy away from going hard to the paint and using his physicality to finish at the basket. He finished the game with 13 points and was a great spark for his team.

In the second half, two other top prospects came to life. Team White’s Anthony Wrzeszcz and Team Black’s Atewe came out firing.

Atewe’s teammates started to feed him down low and the six foot 4 inch big forward went to work. Using his strength, size and raw power to get to the basket makes him an unstoppable force when he’s making his shots.

However, it was the Wrzeszcz to Stewart connection that took over the game late. Wrzeszcz started to heat up down the stretch scoring seven straight points and finishing the game with 18. The point guard’s play also helped Stewart have a monster performance by getting open looks. Stewart finished with a game high 29 points.

With the game tied with 20 seconds left, it took a clutch mid-range jumper from grade eight forward Jarese Henry to win the game for Team White.

Stewart earned MVP honours for his dominance throughout the game on both ends of the floor.

The young player’s hard work this weekend shined through in the All-star games and showed the amount of talent this class possesses.

Unfortunately, one of the top prospects of this class, Jahsamer Olembe had to pull out of the All-star game due to a back injury.
