Justin Jackson commits to Maryland

Canadian Justin Jackson has committed to Maryland for the upcoming season, according to Jeff Ermann of InsideMDSports.com.

Jackson, a 6’7” 229lbs Toronto native, is extremely athletic and  plays most effectively at both forward positions.

Jackson had previously committed to UNLV while playing his prep ball at Nevada powerhouse Findlay Prep, but decided to go in a different direction, and played his senior season of basketball in Brantford, Ontario at Hill Academy.

North Pole Hoops have been tracking Jackson since he was in Grade 9, and the big man has consistently added something new to his repertoire every time we’ve seen him.

One thing Jackson has consistently been able to do is create plays off the dribble. He’s got a tight handle, and can see passes in advance.

During his years at Findlay, he was able to put on muscle mass and strength, while improving his athleticism. He continued to improve while finishing up his high school career in Canada.

The Terrapins get a player who could conceivably play anywhere from the 1 to the 4, and will ultimately be a very effective player in the Big 10. The departure of forwards Jake Layman and Robert Carter will definitely give Jackson an opportunity to get some serious minutes right out of the gate.
