Daniel Mullings signs Pro deal in China

Toronto native Daniel Mullings has signed a contract with Jian Huai Shan Dian of the Chinese National Basketball League (NBL), after spending his first year abroad playing professionally in Germany. 

Jiang Huai Shan Dian is a newly formed NBL club located in Chuzhou, Anhui.

“We are very excited to have Daniel, as he is such a talented and explosive player,” said Yong Ge Xiong, President of Jian Huai Shan Dian. “We are certain that Daniel will have a huge impact on the game and will lead the team on both ends of the floor.”

Mullings recently took home Silver with Team Canada at the Pan Am Games in Toronto, and is expected to be at tryouts for the Senior squad heading to the Manilla Qualifiers in July.

Mullings is coming off his first professional season playing with Medi Bayreuth in the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). There, he averaged 5.3 points in 15.8 minutes per game. 

Mullings played his NCAA ball at New Mexico State where he earned Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Year as a junior. 

He currently holds records as New Mexico State University’s all-time leader in career steals with 249, all-time leader in free throws made with 463, and is also the team’s 4th all-time leading scorer with 1677 career points.

“I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity to play in China,” said Mullings. “I can’t wait to get on the court and be an instrumental piece, helping take this club to new levels.”
