NCAA Canadian Transfer List

Every year over 500 NCAA DI players on the men’s side transfers to another program, in most cases to play at a higher level. According to recent statistics provided by the NCAA, 90% of the time it is for athletic purposes, not academic. This year the number is climbing daily.

Earlier today stellar sophomore guard Elijah Long received a release from Mount St. Mary’s. A New Mexico State freshman from British Columbia, Jermaine Haley also heads out.

Last night Jeff Goodman of ESPN reported that Ottawa’s Marial Shayok will transfer from Virginia to Iowa State, however it is unclear whether he is eligible right away. All that will depend on his graduation status.

The highest level prospect from the bunch below, Isiaha Mike who is widely considered an NBA prospect is on a visit today to SMU in Dallas, Texas.

Isiaha Mike is a 6’8 forward hailing from Scarborough, Ontario. He is the most sought out transfer as he’s coming off a noteworthy season at Duquesne where he collected freshmen awards and put up a few 30 point games to make his mark in his first year. SMU and Oregon have made a strong push and are front runners for his service.

Ideal physical tools, developing into versatile wing with NBA upside, skilled to play from positions 2-4. Long, ultra-athletic and body still filling out. Needs to sharpen perimeter skills.

  • Jaylen Poyser (UNLV) – Average 2016-2017 – 10.4 points, 2.7 rebouns, 2.6 assists

Granted release from UNLV

Poyser can create his own shot using the dribble or by beating his man off the first step. Athleticism has reached a new high as body matures. Scores in bunches and improving as man to man defender. Good end to end speed.

  • Elijah Long (Mount St. Mary’s) – Average 2016-2017 – 15 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists

Chip on his shoulder, relentless work ethic. Pure PG with scoring versatility. Excellent using moves to separate from defenders. Creates space and switches direction quickly. Vision on the move and passing touch.

  • Munis Tutu (Loyola Marymount) – Average 2016-2017 – 2.5 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists

A speedy guard who thrives in high speed situations and offences. Able to make quick reads on the move and find teammates. A solid man to man defender.

  • Jermaine Haley (New Mexico State) – Average 2016-2017 – 3.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists

Great length and size at 2 guard. Potential to play combo.

  • Daniel Dzierzawski (Toledo) – Average 2016-2017 – 7.0 points, 2 rebounds, 1.6 ast

Speedy coast-to-coast, tight handle and reads gaps well. Needs to improve and become more of a knock down 3 pt shooter.

Eligible immediately

  • MiKyle McIntosh (Illinois State) – Average 2016-2017 – 12.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists

Entered 2017 NBA Draft, able to come back as grad transfer if he pulls out of draft by May 24th.

Brute strength and athleticism. Core strength allows him to hang in the air and take contact yet still finish. Can backup undersized guys into the low post and have his way. Elite athleticism.

  • Kassius Robertson (Canisius) – Average 2016-2017 – 16.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists

Granted release from Canisius

Very efficient player shooting 50% from the field. Can get red hot and put up big numbers. Lights out shooter not be left open. Reads closeouts quickly and makes right decisions to make play for teammates.Percentages have improved every year. Work horse.

  • Malcolm Duvivier(Oregon State) – inactive

Graduate transfer

Brute strength and full court lock down ability due to lateral speed and defensive mentality. Pure team guy, unselfish and willing to fit into role.

  • Matthew Atewe (Washington) – Average 2016-2017 – 2.2 points, 2.3 rebounds

Granted release from Washington

Atewe has good instincts to block and alter shots, he’s a true rim protector. On offensive end, a clean up guys whether eyeing the ball down for a put back or rebounding and finishing with dunks off of two feet. Back down game before finishing over right shoulder.
