The talent level in the NPH Showcase League continues to rise — and Session 1 and Session 2 made one thing very clear: the future of Canadian girls basketball is loaded.
From explosive scoring performances and lockdown defensive stretches to elite shot-making and dominant interior play, both the Junior and Senior Girls divisions were filled with standout performances throughout the weekend. Multiple players established themselves early as statistical leaders while others proved they are quickly becoming names to watch across the circuit.
Whether it was Amyra Reid-Lee taking over offensively for Dropoff Elite, Vera Lai exploding in the Senior Girls division, or frontcourt standouts like Majesty Akerele controlling the paint, this past weekend showcased the depth of talent continuing to emerge across the NPH platform.

Reid-Lee delivered one explosive performance after another throughout Session 2, showcasing her complete offensive arsenal and ability to completely take over games. Luu-Etienne delivered an impressive Session 2 weekend built on scoring efficiency, perimeter shooting, and defensive activity. Throughout the weekend, she consistently found ways to impact the game on both ends of the floor while showcasing her versatility as a scorer and defender.

The versatile guard/forward consistently impacted the game in multiple ways throughout the session, showcasing her ability to score efficiently, rebound, protect the rim, and make winning plays on both ends of the floor. Her combination of size, activity, and offensive versatility made her one of the toughest matchups of the weekend.

After the opening stretch of the season, Akerele currently sits 2nd overall in scoring at 17.7 points per game while also ranking 2nd in rebounding at 5.0 rebounds per game.
The powerful forward consistently controlled the paint throughout the weekend, using her physicality, touch around the rim, and relentless activity on the glass to overwhelm opposing defenses. Akerele proved to be one of the toughest interior matchups in the division, finishing efficiently around the basket while making a major impact defensively and on the boards.
Her most dominant outing came against NYB where she erupted for 22 points on an incredible 90.9% shooting from the field while also adding 2 steals defensively.
