Aaron Redpath signs with McMaster
HAMILTON,ON– The 6’5 star shooting guard Aaron Redpath of J.C Richardson secondary has committed to the McMaster Marauders of the CIS. Yet, he sets the tone from the jump.
“First of all, I take my academics very seriously so I wanted to find a place that was a right fit for me both academically and basketball wise.”
Redpath, who boasts a grade average of over 90% is currently enrolled into the Kinesiology program at McMaster, considered a top 100 school in the world according to several established sources.
“It’s really an easy decision for me when I look at all the aspects of the school and not just basketball,” he explained.
Aaron is a highly recruited prospect in the class of 2011, currently ranked at #12 in the NPH player rankings. He has also recieved offers from McGill, Ryerson, UofT, UVic, Dalhousie and York from within the CIS.
As far as NCAA programs are concerned: Harvard, Cornell, Dartmouth, Canisius, and New Mexico State were the main schools in the picture.
Redpath explains his role entering as a freshman to the Marauder family.
“I’m going to have to earn my position as a starter, they may have me coming off the bench, but definitely a big part, playing big minutes.”
He also understands the work ethic he will need in order to improve his strength and add muscle mass, and is up for the challenge.
“Here at Mac, their strength and conditioning program is top of the line, so I know I’ll be able to get in the gym and work,” explained Redpath
“It all depends on how much work I’m willing to put in, which I know I’m willing to get stronger.”
While the sharpshooter has pledged commitment to McMaster, Redpath still has his NCAA recruitment options open at this point, which has been made clear to the MacMaster coaching staff. However, AR’s signing has verified his loyalty to the Marauders if he is to remain in Canada.
If a new enticing opportunity arises, Repath will still consider the D1 route.
One thing is for certain, whether the youngster plays in the CIS or NCAA, he will be a great addition to either league and more importantly succeed in his academics with flying colours.
“As of now, I consider myself a Marauder, and very happy about that.”
