Greivis Vasquez had embraced Toronto since he arrived two years ago and he’s been praising the city every since.  This weekend he pays the ultimate tribute to his adopted city with the release of his first player exclusive shoe from Under Armour – the ClutchFit Drive Low North Six.

The North Six features a red, white and black (as well as metalic silver) colorway in homage to the Toronto Raptors’ team colors and also includes slash marks on the upper representative of the team mascot, the velociraptor.  The shoe will feature UA’s ClutchFit technology for fit and support while also utilizing full length MicroG foam cushioning for comfort.  The exterior heel counter rounds out the support making this one good pair to ball in.

The shoe will be released to the public March 28 in limited numbers on UA.ca and will drop exclusively at Foot Locker at the Yonge St location in Toronto only.  Vasquez joked that he’s already received too many requests from friends and family for what will be a hot, and already limited, pair of kicks so you will likely need to get on this fast!

On the eve of the release we were able to steal a few minutes with Greivis to talk about his first ever PE right here …

Can Ball Ray: First of all, how awesome is it to have your own shoe out there?

Greivis Vasquez: It’s great! It’s hard to fully describe what I’m going through right now but it’s positive and unbelievable.

CBR: You’ve been with Under Armour for a while now. Was this always in the works for you?

GV: We’ve been working on this project since I’ve been a part of the Under Armour family but timing wasn’t right. Now, timing is perfect to do it. My shoe is called the North Six so it represents the team and the city of Toronto. It represents the Raptors and my game also. It represents the city and it really means a lot to me because I’m loyal to the city and it’s a great beginning.

CBR: How much input did you have in your player exclusive model.

GV: I wore the shoe in the play offs last year and it was great. This year, Under Armour came out with a player exclusive edition (for myself).   The colorway was my idea and if you see the actual shoe you’ll see it actually looks like Toronto with the grey and red. It’s a good-looking shoe and I like it a lot. With this shoe I wanted to show how much I love the city of Toronto and how invested I’m in it. I like the city and I like being here.

CBR: There’s a lot to like about the shoe but tell us what’s your favorite part?

GV: I like (everything) but I really like the way it looks. It represents my game so it shows a lot of swag, a lot of personality and represents me in a lot of different ways.

CBR: I know that you’re only releasing your first player exclusive right now but can we expect anything else in the future from you and Under Armour?

GV: We got a lot of different ideas that we have and want to get down but we want to slowly do things step by step. We (plan) to come out with more things but it is just the beginning right now. We’re heading in the right direction and we’re doing things the right way and I’m extremely happy to be a part of the Under Armour family.

Remember folks, you can get your own pair of UA ClutchFit Drive Low North Six online at www.ua.ca or at the Foor Locker Yonge St location in downtown Toronto March 28. (Or at the UA Harbour East Brand House in Baltimore if you’re in the neighbourhood.)
