Toronto, ON–After starting off his high school basketball career in Mississauga, Ontario with Loyola, Kayon Mayers attended Boston Trinity Academy where he posted 16, 7, and 3 and lead his team in almost every category. Unfortunately his efforts were not enough to give the BTA Lions a winning season as they finished with a 6-16 record.

Mayers is looking to leave the frustration from last season behind and start a blank slate this year with the Harford Fighting Owls in Maryland.

Kayon has been waiting for the opportunity to display his skill set against a pool of major talent and now that chance has been granted. He will be matching up against the top talents in Division one of the NJCAA.

On a team that carries mainly freshman, Mayers is amped to come in and provide intensity on both ends of the floor in order to earn a starting position.

“It’s a whole new season with a new team and I know that I have to go in there and earn everything. It’s going to be a tough, competitive season but I know that I’m going to work hard to make sure that I can help my team win”.

This JUCO freshman has added a great deal of versatility to his game as he went from being a scorer that was purely a slasher to a guard that can open up the floor by connecting from deep and hitting the midrange.

Key components that will help Mayers take his game to the next level are; tightening his dribble sequence and adding a few offensive go-to moves to his arsenal.
