EUGENE, OR–Alright Canada, it’s time to wake up. Reason being; most of you reading this are likely unaware of the man they call “Mr Double-Double,” a 6’7 Forward & transfer to Oregon, [from Louisiana Tech] who averaged 14.2 PPG and 9.4 RPG last season.
His name is Olu Ashaolu.
It seems silly that he is being introduced in such a way to Canada when Ashaolu, the rising senior has already managed a degree from Louisiana Tech while making major noise in America.
If you are a Canadian basketball junkie, and have been following along, my apologies. In this case, you should be quite familiar with the ALL-WAC defensive team selection and NBA draft prospect.
After just being shy of averaging a double-double, Ashaolu is now hungry for more than numbers.
“One thing I want to do is taste the tournament. I’ve never been in the field of 65, so Im looking to finally making that happen this year and I think with the team we have this year, we can challenge to not only make it to the dance but win and go deep in to the tourney,” Ashaolu told NPH.
He will join fellow Canadian and friend Devoe Joseph, who is a transfer from the University of Minnesota.
Joseph averaged 9.4 points, three rebounds and three assists per contest, which he will certainly look to improve on with the Oregon Ducks.
“Devoe and I are ready to lead the team to the promise land,” said Ashaolu.
If it wasn’t for DJ, Ashaolu may have not landed at Oregon.
“Man, Devoe was a big deciding factor as to why I chose Oregon. I remember when we first met, he stole the MVP of the Rumble in the Tdot from me,” joked Ashaolu.
“But since then we played together in AAU [Grassroots Canada] and Junior National team competition.”

“Hes a winner, a great competitor and im very happy to have him with me this year competing. I know what he brings to the table. I think we make a great tandem.”
Well folks, now that you about this duo composed of one Toronto and one Pickering representative, strap your seatbelts and witness the Oregon Ducks make a huge splash in the pond we call the NCAA!
