NC-Double-Eh Men’s Player of the Week – Jamal Murray, Kentucky

Jamal Murray has been nothing short of incredible for the Kentucky Wildcats.  And that is saying something since UK is loaded with NBA talent.  In two games last week, he averaged 28 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3 assists in 36 minutes.  He shot 20-of-41 from the floor, including 11-of-22 from behind the arc, plus 5-of-6 from the line to earn this week’s NC-Double-Eh Player AND Rookie of the Week.

In Kentucky’s tough 84-77 road loss to Tennessee February 2, Murray went for 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 36 minutes.  He shot 7-of-20 from the field and was 4-of-4 from the line.

In the Wildcats’ 80-61 win at home four days later Murray had a monster performance.  He scored 35 points to tie the freshman scoring mark at Kentucky going 13-of-21 from the floor including hitting 8-of-10 threes.  He chipped in 6 rebounds and 1 assists in his 36 minutes of action.

On the year he’s averaging 18.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 34.4 minutes.  He shooting 43% from the field, 39.1% from behind the arc and 75.6% from the free throw line.

Honorable Mention:  Kyle Wiltjer, Gonzaga – 20 ppg, 3 rpg, 1.5 apg, 33.5 mpg in two games.

 

NC-Double-Eh Men’s Rookie of the Week – Jamal Murray, Kentucky

See above. He was just that good this week.  

 

Honorable Mention:  Obie Okolie, Brown – 6 ppg, 6 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1 spg, 24 mpg in two games.

NC-Double-Eh Women’s Player of the Week – Jamie Weisner, Oregon St

Jamie Weisner continues to play like the all conference player she is helping Oregon St to three wins this past week.  18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1 steal in 34 minutes.  She shot 19-of-37 from the floor, 8-of-14 from the three and 9-of-12 from the line to earn NC-Double-Eh Women’s Player of the Week.

In Oregon St’s 67-44 win over Arizona St on February 1, Weisner had 25 pts (on a near perfect 9-of-10 from the floor, 3-of-3 from the trey and 4-of-5 from the line), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block in 35 mins.

In the Beavers’ 61-53 win at Washington four days later Weisner had 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and a block in 33 minutes.

In Oregon St’s game February 7 Weisner went for 9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists in 35 mins in the team’s 54-45 victory over Washington St.

For the season, Weisner is averaging 17.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 30.6 minutes.  She’s shooting 50.6% from the floor, 44.2% from the three and 88.3% from the free throw line.

Honorable Mention:  Brianne Cohen, Detroit – 21 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1 bpg, 27 mpg in two games.

NC-Double-Eh Women’s Rookie of the Week – Hayley Robertson, Vermont

Hayley Robertson is one of a four Canadian rookies playing at Vermont and she had a good week.  In her team’s two games she averaged 2.5 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in 22 minutes to earn this week’s NC-Double-Eh Rookie of the Week.

In Vermont’s 63-51 loss to Maine on February 3, Robertson had 4 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists and 2 steals in 21 minutes.

In the Catamounts 75-40 loss to Albany February 6 she had 1 point, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in 23 minutes.

On they year, Robertson is averaging 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.1 steals in 21 minutes.

Honorable Mention:  Ashley Polacek, Central Florida – 6.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.5 spg, 21.5 mpg in two games.
