Ottawa to Host Prestigous OFSAA AAAA Boys Basketball Championship!

OTTAWA, ON– “March Madness” comes to the Ottawa region as it proudly plays host to the best high school boys basketball teams in Ontario.

The three day tournament features 18 high school teams, 27 games and will crown a provincial champion.

The OFSAA Championship has a rich tradition and history beginning in 1971. Ottawa has only twice hosted the top tier OFSAA event in 1981 and 1997.

This is the first time the National Capital has hosted the AAAA since its inception in 2002. It will definitely showcase some of the top high school players in Canada. This same event has seen many former basketball greats such as Leo Rautins, Jay Triano and Jamaal Magloire perform on the OFSAA stage.

Richard Sutton, Tournament Co-Convenor is anticipating a fantastic three days.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting this elite championship event, basketball fans will be in for a real treat with the caliber which will be on display.” 

The preliminary action on the court tips-off on Monday, March 5th at four sites (Ridgemont, Mother Teresa, Hillcrest and Longfields-Davidson Heights) and continues on the 6th.

The tournament culminates with the “Final Four” where the semi-finals, Bronze and Gold medal games will take place at the Ravens Nest (Carleton University) on Wednesday, March 7th.

Sutton adds, “Ottawa is a great basketball community, we’re confident that we will embrace it so it doesn’t take another 10 years to come back.”
