SCARBOROUGH, ON–Over the years, the PHASE 1 Rising Star Showcase has served to be the platform for the big show, also known as “The All-Canada Classic”

The Rising Star showcase puts on display some of the top young Canadian stars of the future! Alumni include Devoe Joseph, Cory Joseph, Junior Cadougan, Kalisha Keane and Kendra Seto to name a few.

The 2011 installment of this event was held at Seneca College where the “Rising Stars” did not disappoint!

Tipping off the All-Star showcase games were the grade eight and nine girls (2015/2016) followed by the boys.

Top Performers Girls Game: Grade 8 vs Grade 9

  • Christina Buttenham- 18 points
  • Faith Baye [Manitoba]- 13 points
  • Katherine Holt [Mundy’s Bay]- 11 points
  • Alex Hay [Eastview]- 9 Points
  • Adrianna Scott [Brookwood Middle School] 8 points

Top Performers Boys Game: Grade 8 vs Grade 9

This showdown featured arguably the top Canadian prospect in 2015, Jamar Ergas go up against the top prospect in 2016, otherwise known as Justin Jackson; and it surely did not disappoint! Ergas poured in a game-high 32 points producing in a variety of ways including jack hammer dunks, alley oops, and great long range shooting.

However, Justin Jackson rebuttled with 26 of his own displaying a combination of strength, size and finesse in his dribbling ability.

Kamar McKnight chipped in with 15 points to help Anchor Ergas and Team Black to come out victorious.

MVP: Jamar Ergas [Chaminade, Grassroots Canada]

Top Performers Girls Game: Grade 10 vs Grade 11

Two high calibre point guards that caught my eye were 5’6 PG Kayla Davis [D’Youville] and McKenzie Sigurdson. [Northern S.S] The lead guards went on a head-to-head battle, controlling their team’s tempo, pushing the ball, and creating plays for themselves and teammates.

MVP: Cassandra Edwards [Notre Dame]

Top Performers Boys Game: Grade 10 vs Grade 11

This game had it’s fair share of promising talent including 2013 Prospect Micqueel Martin, who had his imprints all over this game pour in 25+. Other notable 2013’s included Damion Rashford and sleeper D’Adrian Allen. As for the class of 2014, Marcus Lewis and Jake Babic were in attendance.

STAY TUNED FOR NPH PLAYER EVALUATIONS THIS WEEK!
