This past weekend, CE23 Academy (Carl English Academy) out of Newfoundland delivered a perfect 5–0 record at the NPH Showcase, sending a clear message to the rest of the league: the East is not to be overlooked. What was once considered a region fighting for respect is now producing legitimate contenders, and CE23’s dominant opening statement only strengthens that narrative.

John Purchase – 16 PPG, 5.8 RPG
Purchase set the tone with his consistency. Whether scoring inside, playing with effort, or making timely plays on both ends, he was CE23’s stabilizer. Polished footwork and post-game was on display. His ability to generate efficient offence in big moments gave CE23 a reliable go-to when games tightened up.
Ryder English – 16.8 PPG, 3.4 RPG
Coming off a visit at South Alabama, English is the leader of this team and the engine behind their offence. His scoring versatility was on full display — threat from deep, hit tough jumpers, and made defences react anytime he touched the ball. Every run CE23 made seemed to involve him, either as a scorer or a pressure creator.
Brody Buckle – 10.2 PPG, 2.6 APG
Buckle’s impact went beyond the box score. As the team’s connector, he made CE23’s offence flow, consistently making the extra pass, organizing the group, and delivering timely scoring when opponents sagged off. His presence helped elevate the team’s cohesion in key stretches.
