Kevonne Marshall Commits to CTA

Facing a rebuild year after their second championship, Canada Topflight Academy has been hard at work looking to replenish their roster.

After losing their three point guards, CTA have just secured the services of C/O 2021 Kevonne Marshall, a top 10 prospect in the class.

Marshall was spotted at the Junior Toronto NPH Showcase lighting up the competition with his elite scoring abilities.

Close to a year later, Marshall once again left an impression at the Canadian National Invitational Tournament (CNIT) as he represented Grassroots, making it all the way to the finals.

Behind Grassroots head coach DeShawn Montaque’s development, Marshall has skyrocketed as a polished overall player working tirelessly on becoming a better passer, rebounder and defender.

Marshall now takes a big step upwards in his basketball exposure as he enters the National Prep Association; looking to be apart of a three peat for reigning national champs CTA.

Grassroots head coach Montaque believes the move is much needed, as CTA is a match made in heaven for Marshall.

“CTA is a good fit for Kevonne based on the fact that they will guide him into academic success and graduation which is important to myself, his mother and Grassroots,” explained Montaque.

“He will be isolated into an amazing place being Ottawa and away from his Toronto community in Jane and Finch where anyone is vulnerable to distractions.”

The fit also makes sense when talking talent and chemistry as Montaque points out CTA has a crop of the top players in the 2021 class.

“(Marshall) being a top 10 prospects in the class of 2021 and best point guard in his class, playing alongside two other top 10 prospects in Muon Reath and Enoch Kalambay is a scary site for the future,” said Montaque.

“Having a winning culture and being back-to-back NPA champs was a cherry on the top of why CTA is a good fit for Kevonne Marshall.”
