Rival matchup set for U15 Girl’s Nationals Final
As is the norm with the Girl’s U15 Canada Basketball National Championships Quebec and Ontario will do battle for another crown.
Aaliyah Edwards was a beast in Ontario’s semi final win over a very good and very well coach Saskatchewan. Edwards went for 30 and 12 and was just one of the 5 extremities that is the monster D Ontario displays. In a game that was close at the half (40-34) Ontario’s relentless pressure grinded Saskatcewan O down doubling them up 36-18.
Kennedy Hollinger put on a solid display going shot for shot with Edwards in the first half and dropping 18 for the game. A bad transition foul call (4th personal) midway through the 3rd slowed her down and was a part of the offensive slow down for Saskatchewan.
Quebec jumped out to a 20-7 laead after the first quarter through strong play from Innes Stephy Tchouviegno (10pts, 5stl) and Sarah Bailly (18pts). Quebec continued strong defensive play through the game leading to a final score of 63-36 over British Columbia.
British Columbia was led by Kiara Ker with 10pts and 4 rebs.
In the preliminaries Team Ontario defeated Team Quebec 65-59 in a game marked by high intensity and excellent defensive play from both teams. The final will be another storied competitive game against these two basketball giants. Both teams are deep and any player is capable of a big game, however Quebec has been led by PG Lisa Tesson, G Sarah Bailly and 6-3 Forward Clara Bergeron.
