Welcome to the Six
TORONTO – With NBA stars and celebrities descending on the city of Toronto (the 6ix) local talent has stepped up to welcome them and make a hospitable stay despite the frigid temperatures.
“It’s cold. It’s really, really cold. Really, really cold. But it’s great to be here,” said Kobe Bryant. “It really is great to be here. I think this has always been one of my favorite cities. It’s such a beautiful city, and extremely well deserving to have an All-Star Weekend.”
Everybody involved seems to have something special planned for Kobe in his last All-Star game, and it’s sure to be a memorable one.
The Raptors are represented by the backcourt duo of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry who play very different roles in party planning depending on who you ask.
“We’ve kind of been staying a little more low key and not trying to do everything out there,” said Kyle Lowry. “But people called me and asked me where to go or where to eat dinner. I’ve given a few tips here and there.”
Either no big plans have been discussed, or the stars are playing it really cool.
“No, I don’t have too many plans this weekend,” said LeBron James. “I’m going to enjoy the city. It’s an unbelievable city. I love being here. I’ve always enjoyed being here. So I’m going to enjoy it, and then get ready for the second half of the season.”
I’m sure we’ll hear all about the legendary parties later…
And if he has a good enough time, maybe Kevin Durant will want to come back. You know, like, in a Raptors uniform?
“I love Toronto, man,” said Durant. “I come here every summer and hang out for a few days. It’s a beautiful city, very diverse. I just love being here. It just reminds me a little bit of a mini New York City. So it’s cool to hang here.”
Very cool.
