Jordan Bachynski Sets Arizona St Record in Blocks, Khem Birch Flirts with Triple-Double
In November 15 NCAA action, Jordan Bachynski headlines the Canadians, setting a shot blocking record for Arizona State, while Daniel Mullings continues his hot start for New Mexico State. For UNLV, Anthony Bennett (Cavs) is no longer on the roster, leaving an opportunity for a Canadian from Quebec to step up.
- Daniel Mullings (Scarborough, ON) continued his strong play Friday as he recorded a season-high 26 points. His efforts helped lead New Mexico State to an 86-73 victory over UTEP. Mullings shot an efficient 9-14 from the field while adding two assists, 2 steals and one rebound in 35 minutes of play. Fellow Torontoian Aggies Sim Bhullar and Renaldo Dixon provided solid contributions. 7’5 Bhullar posted 11 points, 6 rebounds and two blocks, while Dixon added nine points and four rebounds

Khem Birch (Montreal, QC) was one of two Canadians on triple double watch tonight. The Montreal product had 9 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks guiding his UNLV squad to a 73-70 win over Nebraska Omaha. With Anthony Bennett out of the mix, Birch has a chance to have an all-conference type of year.
- The “dark horse” was at it again. Jordan Bachynski joined Birch by also flirting with a triple double. The Calgary senior posted 10 points [3 -4 FG, 4-5 FT] 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks. His Arizona State ball club went on to beat Idaho 88-60. Bachynski set an Arizona State School RECORD for blocks with 194! The 7’2 centre is averaging 14 PPG, 12.5 RPG, 4.3 BPG through three games.
- Despite Chad Posthumas (Winnipeg, MB) posting a solid double double, Moorehead St lost to Xavier 56 -79. Posthumas scored 12 points , grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked on shot. The Winnipeg Manitoba native scored on 3 of 4 from the field getting to the free throw line 10 times and converting on 6.
- Denzell Taylor (Brampton, ON) wraps up the pack as his Old Dominion team made it back-to-back victories with a 70-60 win over Murray State. The Brampton first year continues to rebound well collecting 12 of them Friday. He scored 8 points on 4 of 7 shooting, also contributing defensively with a steal and a block
