Ottawa Skyhawks Make First Official Signing, Add Mike Rose
OTTAWA,ON–NBL’s newest team, The Ottawa Skyhawks have made their first official signing with addition of Mike Rose out of Naperville, Illinois, USA. Rose a 6’4 shooting guard played division 1 basketball for Eastern Kentucky under Skyhawks head coach Kevin Keathley. The two also teamed up last season as Keathley coached Rose for the Sauk Valley Predators, of the Premier Basketball League.
The signing of Rose is a step in the right direction for the Skyhawks. Rose is an experienced scorer, boasting averages of 20.0ppg and 5.3rpg in his senior season at EKU.
Not only is his shooting superb, but so to is his leaping ability (once posterizing NBA player Kenneth Faried twice in one game during Ohio Valley Conference play).
Roses credentials also include MVP of the 2007 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament, making the OVC first team his junior and senior seasons, as well as shooting an impressive 49% 3 point field goal percentage his senior season.
While Rose’s professional career got off to a slow start, going undrafted in the NBA when some scouts had him going in the top 20 of the 2009 NBA Draft, he has seemed to have hit his stride, averaging over 20 points the past two seasons of professional basketball play, one with the Southland Sharks of New Zealand and last season with the Sauk Valley Predators.
Fans in the nations capital hope Rose can continues his great play this season in the NBL.
