CIS Top 50 Player Rankings – January 2016

NPH is proud to unveil the 2015-16 CIS Player Rankings, otherwise known as #CISTop50

With the CIS Top 50 Player Rankings, our main focus is to reflect on the state of Canadian Interuniversity basketball in 2015-16: who are the main and major players and forces moulding what is happening every week and weekend in gyms across Canada.

Considering that the CIS has no fewer than 47 teams, the main challenges in working on these rankings were to properly differentiate between individual and team success, and to ensure accurate representation of the country’s best.

While working on these CIS Top 50 Player Rankings, NPH spoke with coaches from across the country to help address our concerns over fairness and objectivity: we gathered insight from every conference and division in the country– Canada West, OUA, RSEQ, and AUS.

Each player considered for the rankings was graded out of 10 on five criteria, for a maximum of 50 points.

  • Production
  • Efficiency
  • Team results & Conference Strength
  • Consistency
  • Accolades

The main goal of these rankings is to recognize our talent playing high level hoops in the North. In addition, the #CISTop50 will foster Canadian basketball discussion to support the growth of the sport here and abroad. All of these things, we believe, will be enhanced greatly with the release of these rankings.

Following the CIS Final 8 National championships, the #CISTop50 will be updated accordingly, after the best of the best in the country match up head-to-head! There will be heated debates and we’re ready for it…let us have it! #CISTop50
