Men’s Player of the Week

Kyle Wiltjer, Gonzaga

Kyle Wiltjer continues to show that he’s a bonafide star on the rise after a great week. In Gonzaga’s two games he averaged 25.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in 32.5 minutes. He made 17-of-28 shots, including 4-of-7 from behind the arc, and 13-of-15 from the line to earn anther NC-Double-Eh Men’s Player of the Week.

In the Zags’ 77-63 win over Santa Clara February 5 Wiltjer had 22 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block in 29 mins. He shot 7-of-10 from the floor, making his only three, and making 7-of-8 free throws.

In the Bulldogs’ 81-70 win over San Francisco three days later, Wiltjer had his second double-double of the season going for 29 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists in 36 minutes. He shot 10-of-18 from the field, 3-of-6 from behind the arc, while making 6-of-7 from the stripe.

On the season, Wiltjer is averaging 16.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 26.2 minutes. He’s shooting 54.1% from the floor, 44.3% from the three and 80.6% from the line.

Olivier Hanlan, Boston College – 29 ppg, 2 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1 spg. 21-of-35 FGs, 8-of-18 3-PT FGs, 8-of-9 FTs, 40 mpg in two games.

Men’s Rookie of the Week

Tevonn Walker, Valparaiso

Tevonn Walker is playing more like a senior than the freshman he is. In Valparaiso’s two games last week he averaged 15.5 points, 2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1 steal in 29 minutes. He shot 11-of-20 from the field and 9-of-10 from the line to earn NC-Double-Eh Men’s Rookie of the Week.

In Valpo’s 78-70 win over Detroit February 4, Walker had 19 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 32 minutes. He went 7-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

In the Crusaders’ 82-76 win over Oakland February 8, Walker had 12 points, 3 assists and 2 steals in 32 minutes. He made 4-of-7 from the field and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the stripe.

On the season, Walker is averaging 11 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 27.4 minutes. He’s shooting 44% from the floor, 30.2% from the trey and 71.2% from the free throw line.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes, Florida St – 13.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 6.5 apg, 8-of-21 FGs, 11-of-16 FTs, 34.5 mpg in two games.
