CIS Top 10 National Rankings – Ottawa Claims #1 Spot for First Time in Program History!
The Ottawa Gee-Gees are the number one team in the nation, according to the latest CIS Top 10 National Rankings.
This is the first time in program history that the Gee-Gees claim the number one spot.
Ottawa (9-0) is fresh off a 68-66 home victory against Carleton, to hand the Ravens their first lost off the season, now sitting at 8-1.
According to the CIS, the Ottawa Gee-Gees joined UBC as the only other team outside of Carleton to hold the number on spot since the 2007-2008 season.
UBC held #1 a total of 10 times in this time period, while Carleton owned the top spot for 95 weeks, illustrating their dominance.
But is it a new day in CIS basketball? Is Ottawa’s #1 ranking foreshadowing what is to come in the month of March?
