Canadian High School Basketball Player Rankings – #NPHTop10 2016
The Canadian basketball’s class of 2016 is deep and loaded with future NBA, NCAA and impact CIS talent.
There has been some movement near the top, namely Ottawa, Ontario’s Eddie Ekiyor who has been showing great strides in terms of both mental and physical development over the last six months. Duquesne, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, UMass, Providence have all offered and for good reason.
Thon Maker in NPH Canadian National Rankings?
Thon Maker, who is widely considered to be the #1 prospect in the world in the class of 2016 is now playing in Canada.
This has opened a conversation at North Pole Hoops around the idea of including Maker in the Canadian class of 2016; a very interesting topic due to the fact that Maker is not Canadian (at least not yet) but has Sudanese and Australian roots prior to moving to America.
The same is true for Thon’s younger brother Matur, who could be part of the Canadian class of 2017.
Arguments have been made for and against this idea, however we wanted to engage the Canadian basketball community and find out what YOU think!

Isiaha Mike – Late Bloomer with Much to Prove
After evaluating Isiaha Mike for the first time last spring in CYBL action, it immedately struck us, that the 6’7 combo forward had a chance to be special. But the question was…where did he come from? Shortly after, we found out that Mike had been attending West Hill Secondary but did not have a 2013-2014 high school season.
Following a break out performance where he matched up against Eddie Ekiyor and the Ottawa Guardsmen, Mike kept it rolling all summer with Hoops Canada Elite on the circuit, and being invited to the national team tryouts, where he was one of the final cuts. Later in the summer, he was named MVP at the Americas Camp. Now at St Benedict’s in New Jersey, Mike will have an opportunity to make his mark. He currently holds an offer from Fordham.
Marquel Fraser Surging
Marquel Fraser has bulldozed his way into the #NPHTop10 in the Canadian class of 2016. Fraser had a fantastic summer with U-Play Canada, where his squad went head-to-head with Justin Jackson and Canada Elite.
Following the AAU circuit, Fraser made it extremely difficult for the National Team Coaching staff to cut him, due to his toughness and desire to work and compete. With Team Canada, the Hamilton, Ontario product managed to average 9 PPG (Third leading scorer) and 4.4 RPG (Fourth leading rebounder).
