Canadian Cadet National Team Roster Announced!
We have said it for a while at North Pole Hoops — this age group has a chance to be special.
Canada Basketball has released the official cadet roster that will be heading to France first for an exhibition tournament, and then to Dubai for the FIBA World Championships.
This team will be spearheaded by Jamal Murray, Koby McEwan, Howard Washington on the perimeter, and Eddie Ekiyor, Nolan Narain in the paint.
However, this squad is loaded with NCAA division 1 talent from top to bottom.
A major loss to the team was Justin Jackson, who will not be representing Canada this summer. Jackson has wore the red and white in previous summers. The 6’7 point forward is coming off a strong summer on the AAU circuit with Canada Elite, where he had high major NCAA programs like Illinois, Louisville and Arizona following his every move.
We will have more on this moving forward, as NPH catches up with Jackson.
Without JJ, Canada went from being a potential gold medal contender, to still being a super talented team, that should have others step up. Canada will lose versatility on both ends of the floor without Jackson, however it could open opportunity for others.
Look for players like Brandon Cyrus Jerome Desrosiers, Nikola Djogo, Marquel Fraser, Daniel Cummings to fill the void at the wing spot.
