First Annual University of Toronto Basketball Coaches Conference

TORONTO,ON–The primary objective of First Annual University of Toronto Basketball Coaches Conference is to give our youth development coaches, school/club based coaches in-depth/on-court instructions to help develop their teams and their player’s individual fundamental skills to prepare them for their next level of competition.

Clinicians are going to share their knowledge and strategies for developing a successful basketball program and assisting in the overall development for team and individual basketball players.

Carly Clarke: Half Court Offensive Principles

Coach Clarke shows how your team can consistently gain the advantage in half court settings by spacing, passing, quickly moving to the right position, recognizing opportunity, and aggressively taking advantage of turnovers.

Rick Dilena: Zone Defense Principles

Coach Dilena shows how you can transform five individual players on the court into a single, basket-denying unit. This session is essential for any coach interested in learning how to execute simple zone defense and the best, most efficient way to build zone defense with breakdown drills.

Dave DeAveiro: Transition Offense Principles

Coach DeAveiro explains how your team can consistently gain the advantage in transition by quickly moving to the right positions, recognizing opportunities, and aggressively taking advantage of turnovers. He will also talk about building up a quick offense with using ball screens and handoffs.

Michele Belanger: Pressing Defense

Coach Belanger will be teaching how to force the offense up the sidelines and out of the middle using ball pressure, preventing ball reversal, and strong communication. This defensive system is going to help your team create turnovers and easy scoring opportunities.

Dave Smart: Man to Man Defensive Principles / Pick & Roll Defensive Principles

Coach Smart covers each of his key defensive principles, explains why they are important, and demonstrates on court how to execute essential techniques and tactics properly. Coach Smart also discusses how to defend pick & roll defensive situations in this presentation.
