Womens Nationals U17 Bronze Medal Game

In the U17 Bronze Medal game, it was Quebec and Nova Scotia squaring off for the second time in the tournament.  The first time they met Quebec won easily by 39 points.  This time around it would be a similar fate as Quebec took care of business beating Nova Scotia 79-36.

The first part of the opening quarter had Nova Scotia keeping pace with Quebec matching baskets.  However Quebec took control of 2nd part of the quarter taking a seven point lead into the following quarter.

Quebec then showed why they were heavily favoured in this tournament and dominated in the 2nd and 3rd quarters outscoring Nova Scotia 41-10.  Jenn Silver and Jane Gagne led the way offensively and grabbing rebounds and scoring baskets against a smaller matched Nova Scotia team.

The 4th quarter consisted of Nova Scotia and Quebec trading baskets as Nova Scotia had accepted their fate of finishing 4th.

Quebec was led by Jenn Silver, who took home player of the game honours with 19 points and 12 rebounds both game highs.  Jane Gagna added 18 points to the total.  Khaleann Caron-Goudreau was also solid adding 12 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.

Nova Scotia’s bright spots were Ainsley MacIntyre finished with 13 points for the team lead.  Alison Keough was good on the boards for the smaller Nova Scotia side grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 8 points in the defeat.
