CIA BOUNCE U17 Eliminated, 16’s A Well-oiled Machine

NORTH AUGUSTA, GA–Good news and bad news for Canadians at the EYBL. Starting in the losing column, the U17 CIA BOUNCE squad is officially out of contention for the EYBL championships with a loss to Mac Irvine Fire earlier today.

The team has never been able to truly reach their potential, and to be fair, the group hasn’t playing enough basketball collectively to match up with most EYBL squad who have developed over several years.

On paper, Bounce still had one of the most talented teams in the tournament in terms of player personnel. However, Negus Webster-Chan did not make the trip to Augusta due to a foot injury suffered in Latvia (world championships).

Without trying to sugar coat the loss, it was certainly a disappointment for the Bounce family to not advance further in EYBL play.

“I’m not happy but i think our team played well. alot of high level players but it’s just hard to lose,” explained breakout forward Dyshawn Pierre.

However, Pierre is certainly greatful for the exposure he and his teammates are currently receiving.

“All of us are hoping to play college basketball and we’re all likely going to play in the NCAA…this definitely helps.”

– Canadians Junior Lomomba & Olivier Hanlan have also been eliminated with The Family and Albany City Rock out of championship contention

Now to the good news.

The U16 CIA BOUNCE Team has been running the table thus far, with a current record of 3-0 and ontheir way to the semi-finals.

“It’s just amazing, all the guys just want to win. They don’t care how much they play or how much they score, if they win, that’s all they care about,” explained Head Coach, Tony McIntyre.

“We set a goal in the beginning to be the #1 team in the nation and we’re almost there”

The U16 teams play in less than an hour…they are two wins away from being crowned EYBL champions!

Catch you guys later.

Team Takeover DC and Jonathan Tshibuy have also advanced, and there will be an update on him as well coming soon.
