Keanau Post: Victoria, BC’s Pride and Joy to take the JUCO Route
VICTORIA,BC–The 6’11, 270 pound big man out of Victoria, BC, Keanau Post is fresh off his high school season with Westwind Prep.
“I’m trying to enjoy one of my last summers I can have at home in Victoria and at the same time working on my body before heading back to school.”
Over the last year, Post faced adversity trying to adjust to the prep life but feels he has endured and become more complete as a result.
“Westwind Prep taught me a lot…now I know what I need as a player and student to succeed,” he explained.
As opposed to reclassifying to 2012, Post will be attending JUCO to play for Southwestern Illinois for two years and move on from there.
“At this point in time I’m not really focused on the NCAA schools because I have 2 years at JUCO and anything could happen…I dont want to get ahead of myself,” Post tells NPH.
The Canadian big was heavily recruited by WSU, “I’m most interested in Washington State because they just seem really interested in me and because of that I know they could get me where i need to go.”
In addition to WSU, New Mexico State along with Utah State had offers on the table.
However, Post will focus his energy on preparing himself for JUCO, while improving on his academics in preparation for the next level.
NPH will follow his progress as he enters his first season at SouthWestern Illinois.
