Before the preliminary round of FIBA U16 Americas, there was high expectation for Team Canada; in part because of the boom of the game in this country and partly because of the depth of producers on this team. Featured names like Rowan Barrett Jr., Simi Shittu and Danilo Djuricic are recognized worldwide now, and they have a strong supporting cast with players that can fill up the stat sheet any given night.

They have lived up to the expectation beating Argentina for the first time at any level on Argentinian soil. This Cadet team has clinched a spot in 2016 World Championships by finishing 3-0 in pool play, beating Venezuela, Mexico and Argentina.

 

Canada has clinched a spot for the 2016 U17 World Championships, along with the USA and Argentina.

In the opening minutes of the game Canada had momentum with the starting lineup of Andrew Nembhard, Noah Kirkwood, Danilo Djuricic and Simi Shittu.

None other than Danilo Djuricic was wetting it up from three point land, starting off 3-3 and shooting 50% from the field.

Defensively, the red and white did a good job closing on the Argentinian shooters
