WNPA Week 1 – Top Performers: Statement Games to Open the Season

The opening weekend of the WNPA Season 2 (2025–2026) delivered fireworks across the board. Several rising stars wasted no time setting the tone for what’s shaping up to be an ultra-competitive season. From dominant scoring performances to all-around floor control, these six athletes stood out as Week 1’s Top Performers.

Jordyn Wheeler class of 2026 – Niagara Prep

vs St. Jude’s Prep: 26 PTS, 10-21 FG (47.6%), 4-5 FT, 8 REB, 4 STL, 2 BLK
Wheeler looked every bit the star guard that powered Niagara Prep to elite status last season. She attacked relentlessly, finishing through contact and leading both teams in scoring. Her balance of defensive disruption (four steals) and rim protection (two blocks) speaks to her two-way dominance.

Amelia Sow class of 2027– Fort Erie International Academy

vs St. Jude’s Prep: 25 PTS, 11-18 FG (61.1%), 3-6 3PT, 9 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL
The #1-ranked player in the Class of 2027 didn’t disappoint. Sow showcased her inside-out versatility, connecting from deep while crashing the glass with authority. Her poise and shot selection were elite, proving once again why she’s one of the most efficient scorers in the WNPA.

Kaylen Sta. Maria class of 2026– Niagara Prep

vs St. Jude’s Prep: 23 PTS, 8-15 FG (53.3%), 7-12 3PT, 6 REB, 1 STL
Sta. Maria caught fire from beyond the arc, drilling seven triples and stretching defenses to the limit. Her shooting performance was one of the most impressive of the weekend, and her confidence off the catch gave Niagara Prep a major perimeter spark alongside Wheeler.

Chance Berry class of 2027 – Royal Crown

vs C.O.D.E. Sports & St. Jude’s Prep: 18.5 PPG, 56.5% FG, 10.0 REB, 3.5 AST
Berry set the tone early for Royal Crown with back-to-back high-impact games. Averaging nearly a double-double, she dominated the paint and controlled tempo. Her physical presence and rebounding effort anchored Royal Crown’s offense and transition flow.

Amaya Robinson class of 2026 – Royal Crown

vs St. Jude’s Prep & C.O.D.E. Sports: 16.5 PPG, 42.9% FG, 7.1 AST, 3.5 STL
Robinson’s vision and pace were on full display. Averaging over seven assists per game, she orchestrated the offense with surgical precision while creating turnovers on the other end. Her court leadership and dual-threat ability as both scorer and facilitator make her one of the most complete guards in the league.

Alex Newson class of 2026– King’s Christian

vs C.O.D.E. Sports Academy: 18 PTS, 7-14 FG (50.0%), 7 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL
Newson made an immediate impact for King’s Christian, showing a confident scoring touch and steady presence on both ends. Her efficiency and rebounding from the wing were key in a tightly contested matchup, establishing her as a breakout name to monitor this season.
