FDU Commit Chidube Ekwommadu is one of Canada’s biggest Stockrisers
Don’t think there’s been a player who’s made a bigger leap in the past year than 6’6 SG Chidube Ekwommadu, who has committed to play D1 for Fairleigh Dickinson University in the Northeast Conference.
The upside was always there with him. 6’6 frame with a 6’11 wingspan and good athletic ability. Going into Fort Erie International Academy for his final High School season, he put in serious work and became a lethal 3-level scorer. Ability to take games over and go on unconscious scoring runs like he’s done many times in his Senior year.

Looking forward to seeing the impact he makes in his Freshman season. From what he told me, he’s setting his sights high.
Q: Where are you from and when did you start hooping?
A: I’m from Mississauga Ontario I started hooping around the age of 11.
Q: When did you fall in-love with the game?
A: What made me fall in love with the game would have to be playing ball at recess with my friends. We always used to run kings court and I loved the competitiveness it brought out of me and ever since then I kept playing
Q: Which players do you model your game after?
A: I try to model my game after guys like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Tyler Herro. Shai showed me that having a strong in between game is important so I can be a threat on all 3 levels. I watch Tyler Herro because of how well he can score in actions whether it’s pin downs balls screens or just .5 decision making.
Q: What can fans at FDU expect from you this fall?
A: Fans at FDU can expect the hardest working kid in the room on the court and in the classroom. Someone who can contribute to winning right away and getting this team back to the NCAA tournament.
Q: Which parts of your game are you working to improve the most?
A: I am trying to get in the best shape of my life this offseason. The better in shape I am the more focused and sharp I can be be during my time on the court. With my ability to shoot the basketball guys will make it harder for me to score so I need to be moving without the basketball non stop. Also trying to better my reads on the ball pin downs and curls.
Q: What are my freshman goals
A: My freshman goals is trying to win ROY for my conference and all rookie team selection. I set big times goals for myself because I work extremely hard day in and day out.
Q: What’s something people might not know about you? (Fun fact)
A: I like to play the drums and piano.
