Canadian National HS Rankings #NPHTop25 – Release #4 – Movement + New Names!

A lot of information to take in…and no time to waste. Let’s get right into it! #NPHtop25

St Mike’s Undisputed #1

An 18-0 record by the end of November, another tournament title (Freeds) while defeating nine of the #NPHTop25 teams, is a dominant start. At this point in the season, the St. Michael’s Blue Raiders are beginning to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

Nelson Kaputo’s leadership qualities are blooming this year as starting PG and his comrades trust him and got his back.

Execution, second to none. The adjustments we’ve seen them make against varying defensive strategies tell the tale of the developing IQ from the first option on the court to the last on the bench.

St Mike’s has shown resilience over the years, as a lead is never safe against the Blue Raiders. The three-ball from every angle will always be a threat for SMC.

St Mary’s Finding Groove

After being ranked #1 overall in pre-season and a poor showing at the Father Henry Carr Early Bird that cause them to drop, the St. Mary’s Eagles have began their ascent.

The Eagles were finalists in the prestigious Court Heinbuch Classic this past weekend, where they faced #3 Oakwood, losing by a small margin of five, 57-52, and beating a young but, tough and talented MacNab squad en route to championship game.

This team turns defense into offense. In transition, they are dangerous. They like to pounce on opponents early in games and keep the pressure on. The challenge for them will be learning to play a better half court game.

Led by Tesloth Simon, they are expected to be a dominating team in Kitchener, who could have a perfect regular season record.

Leboldus — Best in the West?

Ross Sheppard earned National Recognition following Mike Dea Classic gold, making us believers of this Alberta rep. But it’s Leboldus out of Regina, Saskatchewan who seem to be the team to beat. We’ve done our research and those that are in the know out West, know. Leboldus is legit–a strong team last season is even stronger this year, lead by arugably the best overall upperclassmen prospect in Chan De Ciman.

Can Teams Outside Ontario Compete?

Historically, Ontario has dominated high school teams around the country, and as a result, some Greater Toronto Area fans don’t believe teams outside of the province can compete.

While Ross Sheppard and Leboldus are not scheduled to make a trip East, Oak Park (currently #15) will take part in the prestigous Silver Fox tournament in January, which will provide us with further insight on how they stack up against some of Ontario’s best!
