NBL Name John Kennedy as New Commissioner

TORONTO, ON – After an unsuccessful attempt to appoint a new commissioner back in early October, the NBL has officially named John Kennedy as the new commissioner of this thriving league.

The announcement of the new commissioner appointment was made yesterday at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Kennedy, a Windsor, Ontario native was the founder of J.Kennedy & Associates, a sports and entertainment marketing company which included clients such as the Los Angeles Lakers.

“We’re excited to welcome John to the NBL Canada team,” said President and CEO of NBL Canada, Andre Levingston in a NBL press release.

“John has an extensive background working in professional sports as a business development manager, strategic planner, event marketer and scout.”

The NBL had originally planned on announcing a new commissioner back in early October but had to call off the announcement due to unforeseen circumstances.

With a new commissioner, the league can now provide stability and an impartial presence in the league. The new commissioner will help the league gain notoriety and develop the NBL into a viable sports league by providing Canadian basketball fans high-quality professional basketball.

Joe Salerno, head coach of the 4-3 Summerside Storm out of PEI commented on the appointment.

“This was a great move by the NBL. Although I have not had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Kennedy in person yet, I have heard great things about him from numerous people around the league.” Salerno told NPH.

“Having someone with as much business development experience, as well as a professional sports background such as Mr. Kennedy leading the NBL is a great start.”
