Thornhill – Girls D1 Jr. Open Team Preview
Thornhill enters the 2025–26 D1 Junior Open season as a hardworking and determined program focused on growth and competitiveness. Led by veteran coach Phil Goldberg, this group shows promising balance — a fearless guard who drives the offense, versatile forwards who can score in multiple ways, and a true interior presence who anchors the paint. With effort, heart, and steady improvement, Thornhill is a team that can make strides as the season goes on and challenge opponents who overlook them.
Eliana Zisckind | 5’2 | Guard
Eliana is the sparkplug of the backcourt — a fearless guard with excellent ball-handling and the strength to compete above her size. She’s known for boxing out bigger players, winning hustle battles, and providing reliable three-point shooting. Her ability to break pressure and confidently create offense gives Thornhill a steady leader and perimeter threat.
Vicki Mihalakakos | 5’11 | Forward
Vicki is a steady inside-out presence who brings balance to the lineup. Comfortable scoring near the rim but also capable of stepping out to shoot, she keeps defenses honest. Her strength allows her to hold her own defensively in the post, while her shooting touch adds versatility to the offense. Vicki’s ability to play multiple roles makes her an important piece for Thornhill’s development.
Sonia Drinovac | 6’2 | Center
Sonia provides the size and rim protection that anchors Thornhill’s defense. At 6’2, she alters shots and makes opponents think twice about attacking the paint. Offensively, she moves well for her size and has a dependable jumper from close and mid-range. Sonia’s presence inside gives Thornhill a valuable interior option on both ends of the floor.
Martina Santos | 5’6 | Guard/Forward
Martina brings valuable prep experience from her time with Royal Crown and Bond, giving Thornhill a veteran presence despite being a new addition. A high-IQ player with excellent passing instincts, she makes smart reads and elevates teammates with her decision-making. Martina is also a reliable shooter and an aggressive defender who takes pride in locking down her assignment. Her combination of experience, skill, and toughness adds stability to Thornhill’s young core.
