Jamal Murray Named Rookie of the Month, Climbing NBA Rookie Rankings
Its safe to say Jamal Murray has found his groove with the Denver Nuggets, as he was named NBA rookie of the month for November.
In CBS Sports’ recent NBA rookie power rankings, Murray is slotted at #2, behind Joel Embiid.
After starting the season cold (registering his first field goal in game five) the Kitchener, Ontario product is now scoring in double figures, which includes reaching the 20-point mark in November three times, on consecutive games.
Murray is shooting close to 43% from the three-point line, while averaging 10.4 PPG, 2.1 APG, 2.8 RPG.
Embiid, who is out in front for ROY honours by a considerable margin, is averaging 18.2 PPG, 7.8 RPG and 2.4 BPG.
With a long season ahead and Murray starting to click, rookie of the year is within reach.
That said, it will be an uphill battle with the 76ers recently increasing Embiid’s minutes, from 24 to 28.
If Murray is able to ultimately get to the number one spot, it would make him the second Canadian to earn NBA ROY, after Andrew Wiggins (2014-2015).
