U17 & U18 MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM HOLD OPEN TRYOUTS JUNE 3RD

Canada Basketball’s Men High Performance will be holding open tryouts for the U17 & U18 Men’s National team tomorrow at  Humber College North Campus.

The U17 Team, which will be led by head coach David DeAveiro and assistants Michael Meeks, Nicky Davis, and James Derouin, will compete in the FIBA U17 World Championship in Zaragoza, Spain at the end of June. For the U17 tryout (for players born 1999 or later) registration begins at 4pm, followed by a two hour on-court practice at 5pm.

The U18 Team, coached by Roy Rana and assistants Jamie McNeilly, Kirby Schepp, and Steve Konchalski will have the opportunity to play in the U18 FIBA Americas in Valdiva, Chile in July. For the U18 tryout (for players born 1998 or later), registration starts at 6pm, followed by a two hour on-court tryout at 7pm.

Players selected during the June 3rd tryouts will be invited to attend a final tryout June 4th before official tryouts and training camp begin for the U17 and U18 teams.  

All athletes must bring a Canadian passport, a provincial birth certificate, and a $10 tryout fee. For more information about registration, check out the Canada Basketball press release.
