Jylisa Williams takes OUA All-Star MVP
On Saturday night the stars came out in Kingston, as the best women’s university basketball players represented for their OUA teams at the All-Star Game.
CIS MVP Jylisa Williams of the Lakehead Thunderwolves put on a show with 27 points, 12 rebounds and five helpers, and was named All-Star MVP even though her Team Vallee lost 71-69 to Team Clarke.
“We went to the JUEL of Ontario banquet last night and a few of my teammates spoke to the girls about playing in Canada and the competitive nature we have in the CIS,” Williams told the crowd prior to the game. “In Canada, I feel if more players can stay here and compete here keeping the high talent young Canadians in the country the CIS can excel just like the NCAA.”
Williams made news earlier this season when she scored an OUA single-game record 50 points in a game against University of Toronto. She capped the year by setting a new OUA scoring record for total points in a season.
