Wiggins Named Rising Stars MVP
Andrew Wiggins led Team World to a 121-112 win over Team USA in the newly reformatted “BBVA Rising Stars Challenge” Rookie-Sophomore game at NBA All-Star Weekend.
Wiggins dropped a game-high 22 points while representing for Canada on the World side. Kelly Olynyk was also selected to the game, but did not play due to a sprained ankle.
But would Wiggins like to play against Team USA wearing a Canada jersey some day soon?
“Oh definitely, that’s a game I dream of,” Wiggins told assembled media following his MVP performance. “Hopefully we can play at the Olympics.”
A rebuilding Minnesota team has been uplifted by the strong play of Wiggins of late, the winner of the past three Western Conference Rookie of the Month awards. Wiggins is now averaging 15.2 points and 4.3 rebounds on the season.
The Canadian first-year currently leads the Rookie of the Year race by a wide margin, and is the only active rookie averaging 10+ points per game.
