Cory Joseph Having Career Year for San Antonio
Cory Joseph registered a career-high 20 points on 8/9 FG last night in a 97-90 Spurs loss to New Orleans.
Joseph also had three rebounds and five assists in 38 minutes.
The Ajax, Ontario product is enjoying a career year in the NBA, earning an expanded role with the Spurs, illustrated by a major boost in minutes from last season (13.8 MPG to 25.1 MPG).
As a matter of fact, this Canadian lead guard is averaging career numbers in every statistical category across the board as you see below, including close to 52% shooting from the field!
You have to appreciate his growth by the year; some wondered early on if he was an NBA player at all, however the former first round draft pick stayed the course and has done so with utmost professionalism.
You can expect to see Joseph suit up for Team Canada this upcoming summer at the PAN AM Games in Toronto. Joseph’s starting position will likely be maintained, despite the upcoming Canadian prospects making their way into the big leagues.
In the summer, Joseph told North Pole Hoops, “I have to be the leader…I got to be the captain of the ship, that’s the way I look at it…I’m very serious about that and I want us to do well,” speaking on Team Canada.
Joseph is quickly becoming a “veteran” with both his championship experience and consistent production for arguably the best organization in the NBA.
