Maliek Gordon Buzzer Beater Lifts Blessed Sacrament in CYBL Action!
It was another day at the office, tracking Canadian prospects at CYBL Session #2.
On this day, from my observations, it was Maliek Gordon of Blessed Sacrament that made the biggest splash. This wasn’t the first time watching him either.
The 2017 6’1 lefty guard gets to the cup at will, and finishes with great efficiency, while absorbing contact.
Against Hoops Canada Elite, with the score tied, and the game in the balance, Gordon took matters into his own hands out of the time out.
“The play was for me to come off a ball screen, and take a jump shot, but when they switched I had time, so I just isolated and tried to drive.”
Game, set, match.
Gordon won the game for Blessed Sacrament on a tear drop floater that looked good as soon as it left his hands.
Blessed Sacrament Head Coach Jeff Joseph chimed in.
“I have confidence in him, and he’s got to learn how to make reads, so you just let him go.”
“He works really hard, comes to shoot around every morning, I think he’s going to be really good. If he learns how to be a lock down defender…wow,” said Joseph.
Maliek Gordon is a yes sir, no sir, thank you, wide-eyed young man who is a willing learner, and one who is building himself a strong reputation, as he enters senior basketball next season for Cardinal Newman.
