Can4Spain2014Canada Basketball has submitted an application for Team Canada senior men, to be considered for a wild card berth to compete in the 2014 FIBA World Cup next summer in Spain.

15 nations have applied for four wild card spots. FIBA will make their decision on which countries will receive wild card berths in February 2014.

With the rapid growth of the sport and the success of Canadians at various levels (NCAA, NBA) not to mention, the TOP NBA prospect in the world (Andrew Wiggins) there is a chance that Canada is award with a wild card berth.

However, this chance does not mean it is guaranteed. The idea behind the #Can4Spain2014 campaign is to build energy and prove to FIBA, that Canada does indeed deserve a spot in the FIBA World Championships, in order to give players like Wiggins, Andrew Nicholson, Kelly Olynyk, Anthony Bennett & others a chance to compete at the highest level internationally
