Chris Boucher, Nicky Desilen & Alma Open Tournament In Blowout Victory
ALMA, QC–Ten hours, three coffees and 1,047 kilometres later, we made it to Alma, Quebec. The city located in the North East part of the province is where we witnessed our main targets 6’10 forward Chris Boucher and 6’3 point guard Nicky Desilien in action.
Both did not disappoint, as Alma Academy orchestrated a highlight reel in a blowout victory over Roberval. Desilien posted a game-high 28 points while displaying a complete offensive package and creating ability.
This lead guard was able to create space using cross overs and step back jumpers from deep, while also racking up assists thanks to many alley-oop dunks from multiple Alma players.
Boucher registered 18 points and was the beneficiary of a bulk of alley-oop jams. The rail thin forward possesses length, athleticism, mobility and even displayed a dependable face up game.
Defensively, Boucher will block or alter shots on almost every possession, swatting at least five attempts. Boucher is a very intriguing prospect to keep tabs on.
Charles Andre Edorhe put up 22 points of his own in the lopsided victory. It is important to note the lack of competition in their opening game as it wasn’t the best indication of the teams true abilities.
However, Alma possesses great size across the roster and is extremely tough to match up with, including 6’10 Rudolphe Joly, 6’8 Steven Clark, 6’6 Andrew Girardot and 6’6 Kevin Mirindi to name a few.
As the tournament progresses, we hope to see these players tested and evaluate their response to pressure.
