SASKATOON,SK–The Windsor Lancers used an aggressive attack on the boards to defeat and upset the Saskatchewan Huskies Friday night at the PAC, 91 -83.
It was a game from the outset that saw a much more alert and aggressive Windsor team in the first quarter.
A 10-point swing in the first six minutes of play by Windsor opened up a comfortable lead that was sustained by Lancers through the first half of play.
Once again, the Lancers were led by Enrico Di Lereto, as he registered a game-high 24 points.
“Offensively, we started moving the ball to our scoring positions, and guys made shots tonight” explained Windsor Head Coach, Chris Oliver.
The glaring difference was the overall rebounding effort by Windsor as eight players recorded a stat in this category with 14 being offensive.
Saskatchewan was outhustled in this department; uncharactertic of one of the top rebounding teams in the nation for the past four seasons.
“We can not get out hustled on the boards” coach Rawlyk told NPH.”
The dogs fought back and closed the gap to seven in the final four mins of play, yet it was too little, too late to secure a victory.
The Huskies where led by Duncan Jones 24 and Peter Lumoro 21
