SAINT JOHN, NB–The Saint John Mill Rats, presented by Rogers, are excited to release that former Detroit Piston guard Will Blalock will play in the Port City this season.

Will Blalock was a second round selection by the Detroit Pistons in the 2006 NBA Draft after declaring for the draft after his junior year at Iowa State.  He finished three years at Iowa State ranked 22nd all-time in history in scoring (1,078 points), sixth in assists (464), tied for sixth in steals (177), and eighth in three-point field goals made (100).

In addition to the NBA, Blalock has played extensively in the NBA Development League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Anaheim Arsenal, the Maine Red Claws, and the Reno Bighorns.

He has also played overseas in Israel, Germany, and last season in Australia. He has been a regular at NBA Summer League and went to training camp with the New Jersey Nets in 2009.

As a member of the Golden State Warriors summer league squad last summer, Blalock went head to head with the Washington Wizards #1 overall pick John Wall, in his summer league debut.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add a player of the calibre of Will Blalock,” stated Mill Rats President and General Manager Ian McCarthy.

“This guy has played against the best players in the world and now fans in Saint John will see him help lead us to an NBL Canada Championship.”
