Lexie Der on Her Way to Boise State

BURNABY, BC–Lexie Der, a recent graduate from Saint Thomas More Collegiate in Burnaby, British Columbia; will join Boise State University in September after being sidelined in her senior year to due to a torn ACL.

NPH asked the Burnaby native how she felt about the injury she replied very optimistically,” I see it as a benefit as I will strengthen it (the knee); something I wouldn’t do before.”

Der provides a lot to any team as she is offensively sound in the post at 6’1, as well a threat from the perimeter.

Lexie is no stranger to elite competition as she has participated for team British Columbia at numerous national championships at the U15 and U17 championships.

She secured a gold medal against team Ontario at the U17 national championships last summer.

Along with provincial team experience, LD also represented team Canada on the junior national team last summer.

As any eighteen year old, for Der this is a bitter sweet moment as she makes the transition from home to a foreign country where she will help lead the NCAA division one school to a successful year.

Last season, the Broncos ended with a 3-13 record, placing second last in the WAC conference. Der will look to contribute to a team that hopes to climb up the standings in the 2011-2012 campaign.
