SOUTHBOROUGH, MA–Nick Stauskas is originally from Mississauga, Ontario and currently playing prep school basketball in Massachusetts at St Mark’s, alongside fellow Canadian, Kevin Zabo.
Stauskas, the 6’6 shooting guard hit Canada with exciting news after commiting to the Michigan Wolverines in the NCAA.
Nick told NPH, “The biggest reason was my relationship with the coaches and their style of play. No better fit for me than Michigan.”
He also knows that Michigan will provide a great avenue for him to be an impact player immediately.
“When I come in, Zack Novak and Stu Douglas will be leaving so it will give me an opportunity to come in and play right away. Also Tim Hardaway Jr. and Morris might be going to the league so it opens up even more room for me.”
Novak, Douglas, Hardaway and Darius Morris comprise of the bulk of Michigan’s guards, therfore Stuakas’ contributions to the team look very promising!
With the addition of this Canadian, John Belien secures a mobile guard that can shoot the lights out, an absolute zone buster. Stauskas still has another year of high school to tighten his dribbling ability and become a potent scorer for the Wolverines!
