Redpath’s 30 Not Enough, Samuels’ Clutch Once Again
LONDON, ON–On day three of the OFSAA Chamionships, J. C Richardson, led by McMaster Marauder commit Aaron Redpath, went to battle against the Father Henry Carr Crusaders in a back and forth slugfest that was action packed.
Throughout most of the game, there had been a few lead changes that were aquired by the red hot Redpath who finished with 30 points. However, Kenrick Lewis infused the Crusaders with energy at the beginning of the fourth quarter and unleashed, hitting two consecutive triples to extend the lead by eight.
The J. C Richardson fans started to quiet down until the 6’5 senior wing man, Leon Alexander picked up a few boards and converted them into buckets. This would be followed by a three pointer from Redpath that would take them into overtime.
In extra time, Crusaders’ Coach Melnik reminisced of the game that got them into the semi’s and placed his trust in Lincoln Samuels, who had hit a buzzer beater against Oakwood in a previous game.
Here, Samuel’s would drop two big threes to extend the Crusader lead and give them enough cushion to put the J. C Storm in a position where they were forced to foul.
After the 79-75 Crusader win, NPH had the opportunity to talk to Coach Melnik and although the 2010-2011 season has now come to and end, he looks forward to next season.
“Everyone on that bench could come back next year…the ultimate goal is to win an OFSAA Championship”.
