OTTAWA,ON- Coming off an ugly roughing up of RMC 121-40, the undefeated Carleton Carleton Ravens powered through a rout of the 6-8 Laurentian Voyageurs, and now sit 13 – 0 on the season.
Good play early in the game from Elliot Thompson, and Mike Kenny, but it was Tyson Hinz who once again led the early charge with sixteen points in the first half for the Ravens. Spurred by a combination of baskets from veteran Ravens guard Elliot Thompson, midway through the second quarter the Ravens took a thirty point lead and never looked back. Passing the ball on offense and getting everybody involved, while playing pressure defense helped Carleton maintain a dominating presence on both ends of the floor.
After Laurentian went on an 11-2 run at the end of the first half to recover to trailing by only 22, the Ravens emerged from the dressing room refocused. Carleton’s family connection Phil and Thomas Scrubb outperformed Laurentian’s duo of Manny and Isiah Pasquale, both sets of brothers from British Columbia. Phil finished with 11 points, while Thomas put up a season-high 13. Manny and Isiah combined for 22 points leading the Laurentian backcourt.
The Voyageurs seemed to lose their drive on a few possessions in the fourth quarter and fell down 91-52, while Carleton’s deep bench continued to add to the lead. In this game all of Carleton’s twelve rotation players put points on the stat sheet, and Carleton proved once again why it is the top team in the CIS and maintained its spotless record with the 111 – 63 win.
