Position Overview
The Social Media Marketing Strategist will lead the digital growth and storytelling strategy for North Pole Hoops’ brand and properties. This role requires a deep passion and understanding of Canadian basketball—from grassroots to the professional ranks—and a strong understanding of the North Pole Hoops ecosystem including its leagues, scouting, media, and player development platforms.
This individual will build a strategic system to plan, schedule, and execute social media content while working collaboratively with the NPH leadership team and content creators. The strategist will be responsible for connecting the story of Canadian basketball with the story of North Pole Hoops, ensuring the @northpolehoops social media channel serves as the umbrella platform that amplifies all NPH storylines, leagues, and sponsorships.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Planning
- Develop, organize, and manage a dynamic social media content calendar aligned with NPH events, leagues, scouting reports, partnerships, and national basketball storylines.
- Identify and leverage hot and trending content in real time to tell compelling stories that tie the growth of Canadian basketball to the evolution of the NPH ecosystem.
- Plan ahead to ensure consistent, high-quality posting across all platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook).
Social Media Management
- Manage daily posting, engagement, and community management across the @northpolehoops channels.
- Maintain a consistent, authentic, and inspiring NPH voice that reflects the company’s leadership role in Canadian basketball.
- Ensure league, sponsorship, and partner integrations are properly leveraged and showcased across NPH social media properties.
Creative Leadership
- Lead creative direction and collaboration with videographers, photographers, editors, and designers to produce engaging basketball content.
- Work with the leadership and media team to connect athlete stories, events, and partnerships into cohesive digital campaigns that grow the NPH brand.
- Support in shaping content narratives that highlight NPH’s national impact and the journey of athletes within the ecosystem.
Growth & Analytics
- Create and manage a measurable social media growth system, including follower growth, engagement, and content reach KPIs.
- Analyze performance metrics and generate actionable insights to optimize future content and campaigns.
- Report results and recommendations directly to the NPH leadership team.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with leadership to align social media strategy with business objectives across leagues, scouting, sponsorship, and events.
- Support marketing and sponsorship teams in maximizing visibility and engagement for partners and campaigns through NPH digital channels.
- Coordinate with content contributors across Canada to ensure NPH’s national coverage is consistent and impactful.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience managing and growing social media accounts for a brand, sports organization, or media company.
- Strong knowledge and passion for Canadian basketball at all levels.
- Deep understanding of North Pole Hoops’ mission, brand, and ecosystem.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of digital storytelling, social trends, and content marketing principles.
- Experience with social media analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, etc.).
- Creative skills in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent tools are an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends during league and event coverage periods.
