ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Creative Operations, the Digital Designer is responsible for providing creative and digital design support across North Pole Hoops leagues, events, programs, partnerships and business initiatives.
The Digital Designer will produce high-quality graphics and digital assets supporting league operations, marketing campaigns, email marketing, sponsorship activations and organizational projects. Deliverables will include social media graphics, league and event creative, player features, schedules, standings, email campaigns, digital advertising assets, website graphics, presentations and other business-related creative.
This role is designed for an emerging designer looking to gain hands-on experience within a fast-paced sports, media and basketball environment. The Digital Designer will work within established NPH brand systems and creative direction while continuing to develop their design, digital production and creative technology skills.
The Digital Designer will use Figma as a core design and collaborative workspace and will support the production of email marketing campaigns through Brevo. AI-enabled tools and workflows will be integrated into day-to-day creative production to improve efficiency, accelerate execution and support the development of digital assets.
The Digital Designer will work directly with the Director of Strategy & Creative Operations and collaborate with the Creative and Marketing team in the execution and rollout of creative.
The Digital Designer is expected to follow and promote our philosophy of: 1. lead yourself, 2. support your team and 3. execute tasks.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and produce digital graphics supporting NPH leagues, events, programs, campaigns and business initiatives
- Create league graphics including game day content, Player of the Game graphics, schedules, standings, rankings, announcements and player features
- Provide ongoing graphic support across NPH leagues, properties and organizational initiatives
- Support the development of creative assets for registrations, event launches, ticketing and marketing campaigns
- Design digital advertising assets and promotional campaign creative
- Build and format email marketing campaigns within Brevo using approved content and campaign direction
- Prepare email campaign layouts, imagery, calls-to-action and links
- Test email campaigns for layout, mobile responsiveness, working links, content accuracy and visual consistency
- Create website graphics, banners and other digital marketing assets
- Support partnership and sponsorship campaigns through co-branded graphics and promotional assets
- Assist with the design of presentations, pitch decks, reports and business materials
- Use Figma as a core workspace for digital design, creative collaboration and campaign development
- Work with established Figma components, templates and design systems
- Adapt and resize creative across multiple digital formats and platforms
- Use AI tools to support creative ideation, content adaptation and digital production workflows
- Learn and follow established AI-enabled Creative Team processes
- Identify opportunities to use AI and emerging creative technologies to improve production efficiency
- Review all AI-assisted creative for accuracy, quality and brand alignment
- Follow established North Pole Hoops brand guidelines and creative standards
- Organize working files, Figma files and final creative assets according to Creative Team processes
- Manage assigned creative tasks and meet established project deadlines
- Incorporate creative direction and feedback into assigned work
- Work closely with other departments within the company to understand project needs and provide creative support
- Participate in Creative Team and marketing meetings as required
- Develop a strong understanding of North Pole Hoops, its leagues, events, programs and position within Canadian basketball
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media or related education is preferred
- 1–2 years of graphic design, digital design, freelance, internship or relevant project experience is preferred
- Portfolio demonstrating strong design fundamentals and digital creative work
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
- Experience using Figma is required
- Comfortable working with Figma files, components, templates and collaborative design workflows
- Familiarity with AI tools and AI-assisted creative workflows
- Strong understanding of typography, composition, layout, visual hierarchy and colour
- Experience with Brevo or another email marketing platform is considered an asset
- Basic understanding of email design and digital marketing
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to problem solve and ask questions when project requirements are unclear
- Organized and able to manage multiple creative tasks and deadlines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and participating in multiple projects across a number of NPH leagues, programs and initiatives simultaneously
- Ability to receive, understand and apply creative feedback
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- General understanding of basketball dynamics and sports culture
- Passion for basketball, design, media and creative technology
- Must have access to a reliable computer capable of graphic design work and a stable internet connection
