Calgary Contenders Eye NPA Title After Runner-Up Finish
Edge Prep enters the 2025-26 campaign with unfinished business. After coming within reach of the NPA championship last season, the Calgary-based powerhouse returns with a sharpened core and the firepower to make another deep run. Known for their disciplined system and physical style of play, Edge is once again built to compete at the national level.
⭐ Malachi Richmond (2026 | 6’3 PG | Eastern Washington Commit)
The engine of Edge’s offense, Richmond returns for his senior season as one of the most poised and skilled guards in the NPA. A high-IQ floor general, Richmond balances scoring and playmaking with maturity beyond his years. Whether navigating the pick-and-roll or controlling tempo in tight games, his steady hand and leadership are the foundation of Edge’s success. Expect him to take on an even bigger leadership role as he prepares for Division I basketball at Eastern Washington.
🔒 Patrick Anamali (2026 | 6’8 F)
Anamali is one of the most intriguing long-term prospects in the NPA. At 6’8 with a reported 7’2 wingspan, the versatile forward brings a defensive presence and rebounding edge that few can match. His length allows him to guard multiple positions, protect the rim, and be disruptive in passing lanes. Offensively, he’s showing real growth — flashing a mid-range game, improved footwork, and better decision-making in transition. Anamali could be a breakout star if his offensive game continues to evolve.
🔥 Kian Tyson (2026 | 6’6 W)
A major offseason addition, Tyson brings athleticism, size, and scoring punch to Edge’s perimeter. At 6’6, he has the physical tools to be a two-way impact player — finishing in transition, guarding wings, and stretching the floor with an improving jumper. Tyson gives Edge added lineup flexibility and should benefit from Richmond’s playmaking. If he meshes quickly with the returning core, Edge’s ceiling gets even higher.
Outlook
Edge Prep is battle-tested and motivated. With Richmond’s steady leadership, Anamali’s evolving game, and the injection of talent from Tyson, this team has the mix of experience, length, and toughness to contend again. Depth and chemistry will be key, but if everything comes together, Edge could very well be lifting the NPA trophy come season’s end.
